NOFIRNO® Filler Sleeves Multi-Bundle (10 to a bundle) with specific details for the 210mm length, including , certification requirements, installation instructions, and typical uses.
NOFIRNO® Filler Sleeves are high-performance, fire-resistant sleeves designed for sealing cable and pipe penetrations in bulkheads and decks. The sleeves are part of the NOFIRNO® sealing system and are known for their excellent fire, water, and gas-tight properties. These sleeves are supplied in multi-bundles of 10 for ease of installation and handling. The 210mm length provides additional coverage for deeper penetrations.
Certifications and Requirements
NOFIRNO® Filler Sleeves comply with the following standards and regulations:
SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea): Complies with the fire safety requirements set forth in SOLAS Chapter II-2.
CFR-46 (Code of Federal Regulations, Title 46): Meets the requirements for fire protection in marine vessels as specified in 46 CFR Part 164.
IMO FTP Code (International Maritime Organization Fire Test Procedures Code): Certified according to the IMO FTP Code for fire resistance.
NVIC (Navigation and Vessel Inspection Circular): Adheres to the guidelines provided in relevant NVICs for fire safety.
Installation Instructions
Surface Preparation: Ensure that the surfaces to be sealed are clean, dry, and free from any contaminants such as oil, grease, or dust.
Sleeve Installation:
Select the appropriate size of NOFIRNO® Filler Sleeves based on the diameter of the cables or pipes and the size of the penetration.
Insert the NOFIRNO® Filler Sleeves into the penetration around the cables or pipes. Ensure that the sleeves are evenly distributed and fill all gaps and voids.
For larger empty spaces, use multi-filler sleeves to ensure a tight and secure fit.
Sealant Application:
After the sleeves are in place, apply NOFIRNO® Sealant around the sleeves to ensure a complete seal.
Cut the nozzle of the sealant cartridge to the desired bead size and insert it into a manual or pneumatic applicator.
Apply the sealant directly into the penetration, ensuring that it fills all gaps and voids around the sleeves.
Smoothing the Surface:
Spray a cloth with water (do not use soap water).
Use the damp cloth to smooth the surface of the sealant layer.
Note: People with sensitive skin should wear gloves when handling the sealant.
Curing:
To obtain optimum adhesion during the curing process, ensure that the cables or pipes are tightly fixed immediately after finishing the transit.
Allow the sealant to cure as per the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Typical Uses
Cable Transits: Sealing cable penetrations in bulkheads and decks to prevent the spread of fire, smoke, and gases.
Pipe Transits: Sealing pipe penetrations in marine and offshore structures.
Multi-All-Mix Transits: Suitable for use in mixed penetrations involving both cables and pipes.
Additional Notes
The NOFIRNO® Filler Sleeves are designed to be used in conjunction with NOFIRNO® Sealant to provide a comprehensive firestop solution.
The sleeves are non-split for ease of installation and are available in various sizes to accommodate different cable and pipe diameters.
Always refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for detailed safety information and handling instructions.
By following these guidelines, you can ensure that the NOFIRNO® Filler Sleeves are installed correctly and provide the necessary fire protection as required by marine and offshore regulations.
