Description
FIWA Sealant 310ML Cartridge:
FIWA Sealant is a high-performance, fire-resistant sealant designed for use in marine and offshore environments. It is a single-component, water-based acrylic sealant that provides excellent fire protection and thermal insulation. When exposed to fire, FIWA Sealant expands to form an insulating char, effectively sealing penetrations and preventing the spread of fire and smoke.

Installation & Safety Tips:
Surface Preparation:
- Ensure that the surfaces to be sealed are clean, dry, and free of dust, grease, and other contaminants.
- Use a wire brush or abrasive pad to clean the surfaces if necessary.
Application:
- Cut the nozzle of the cartridge to the desired bead size.
- Insert the cartridge into a suitable caulking gun.
- Apply the sealant evenly along the joint or penetration, ensuring complete coverage.
- Tool the sealant within 10 minutes of application to achieve a smooth finish.
Curing:
- Allow the sealant to cure for at least 24 hours before exposing it to fire or other extreme conditions.
- The curing time may vary depending on the ambient temperature and humidity.
Safety Precautions:
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves and eye protection, during application.
- Ensure adequate ventilation in the work area.
- Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice if necessary.
- Store the sealant in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and sources of heat.
Supporting Citations:
- SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) Regulations: Chapter II-2, Regulation 9.3.1 – “The construction of fire-resisting divisions shall be such that the integrity of the division is maintained during the fire exposure.”
- IMO FTP Code: Part 3 – “Test for A, B, and F class divisions” – “The materials used in the construction of fire-resisting divisions shall be non-combustible and shall not contribute to the spread of fire.”
Additional Notes:
- To smooth the surface of the FIWA sealant layer, a cloth sprayed with water can be used. This prevents the sealant from sticking to the cloth. Note: Do not use soap water.
- People with sensitive skin should use gloves when working with the FIWA sealant. Please refer to the Safety Data Sheet for more information.
- To obtain optimum adhesion during the curing process of the sealant, the cables should be tightly fixed immediately after finishing the transit.
